AI4VET4AI National Dissemination Event in Regensburg: A Glimpse into the Future of AI-Powered Vocational Education

On September 9, 2024, the AI4VET4AI project hosted its second national dissemination event titled “AI Powered Vocational Education and Training – Insights and Best Practices from Different Perspectives” at the TechBase in Regensburg, Germany. Organized by the project partner Strategische Partnerschaft Sensorik e.V., the event brought together experts from various sectors to explore the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into vocational education and training (VET).

Diverse Participation and Expert Insights

The event drew 75 participants, with 52 attending in person and 23 joining virtually. Attendees included representatives from large corporations, SMEs, universities, and research institutions, covering a wide range of professional backgrounds. The diverse participant profile facilitated a rich exchange of ideas, enhancing discussions on how AI can transform skills development and learning in vocational settings.

Key Discussions and Presentations

The event’s agenda featured a series of presentations addressing essential questions about the future of AI in VET: Which skills will be necessary? How urgently are they needed? How can these skills be effectively taught, and how can AI be leveraged to create individualized educational content?

  • Dr. Philipp Ramin opened the session with insights into how AI is reshaping the competencies required in the modern workforce.
  • Dr. Sebastian Erdenreich delved into the technical possibilities of AI-driven training content, highlighting adaptive platforms that personalize learning experiences.
  • Jennifer Royes from Siemens AG discussed the integration of AI into everyday work environments, emphasizing its impact on efficiency and the evolving skill requirements of employees.
  • Representatives from Infineon Technologies shared their perspective on current and future AI skill needs, underscoring the importance of aligning training programs with industry demands.

The event concluded with case studies presented by OTH Regensburg, demonstrating successful AI applications in vocational training and industry, followed by an open discussion and networking session.
