In April 2025, Think Tank AlterContacts, a Dutch partner of the project AI4VET4AI, launched a podcast series on the topic of Artificial Intelligence. The first episode is dedicated to the AI4VET4AI project, its goals, and roadmap for the four years of implementation.
The results of Work Package 2 (WP2) include a detailed research report and practical advice for updating vocational education and training (VET) curricula to better meet the growing demand for AI skills across Europe. The work was developed in collaboration with the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology (TIB). The findings highlight the importance of close collaboration with industry and the development of both technical expertise and soft skills in AI education. The recommendations offer clear, practical steps for designing curricula and syllabuses, complete with examples and frameworks to help educators put these ideas into practice. This effort reflects the project’s commitment to improving AI skills from local and national levels right up to the European stage, while raising awareness about AI’s potential impact.
To make these insights more accessible, Think Tank AlterContacts produced a podcast episode that offers a clear summary of the key findings and practical advice from WP2. This episode was created using Google NotebookLM — an advanced AI-powered tool that played a crucial role in the episode development process. NotebookLM helped sift through complex research documents, extract essential points, and organize them into a coherent, engaging narrative. This allowed the producers to focus on storytelling and clarity without losing accuracy. The technology also facilitated embedding authentic presenter voices, enhancing the listener experience through natural dialogue and pacing.
The use of NotebookLM streamlined the podcast production, reducing time spent on manual content analysis and editing. It provided a central, interactive workspace where all research inputs, script drafts, and comments could be consolidated and refined collaboratively. This precise and efficient method ensured that the final podcast episode was not only informative but also compelling and easy to follow. Ultimately, it demonstrated how AI tools can elevate content creation for educational and outreach purposes, aligning perfectly with the goals of AI4VET4AI.
Listeners can benefit from this podcast episode by gaining a practical understanding of how vocational curricula can be modernized to incorporate AI skills effectively, promoting career growth and digital literacy. The AI4VET4AI project continues to support Europe’s competitiveness by developing innovative teaching materials, establishing AI-focused VET campuses, and launching innovation incubators to support learners across the continent.
