AI4VET4AI project promotes the AI-powered next generation of vocational education and training

Project AI-powered Next Generation of VET (AI4VET4AI) responds to one of the most pressing challenges of the current labour market: the need to prepare learners, teachers, companies and vocational education and training providers for the rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The project aims to contribute to the digital transformation of the European labour market by introducing innovative teaching content and methods into VET curricula across 11 European countries and 18 NUTS2 regions, supporting the development of AI-skilled workers and strengthening the role of VET in an AI-powered future.

Within the project, partners are investigating the sectors with the greatest potential for AI deployment in their regions, working closely with enterprises, AI clusters and other relevant stakeholders. This work will lead to the creation of 14 MOOCs and teacher-training materials that can be integrated into both initial vocational education and training (IVET) and continuing vocational education and training (CVET). In addition, AI4VET4AI foresees AI VET campuses and VET innovation AI incubators, where learners will be able to develop not only technical knowledge, but also creativity, entrepreneurship and problem-solving skills.

The training and learning activities developed through AI4VET4AI address central questions for the future of education and work: What AI skills will be needed in the labour market? How can AI be taught responsibly and effectively in VET? What new professions, tasks and opportunities are emerging? How can VET learners and adult learners use AI in real work contexts? What role can AI play in sustainable development, innovation and regional growth?

It is also worth noting the relevance of the CoVE project under the Erasmus+ programme: TourX. This project has already demonstrated how European cooperation can translate research and innovation into practical training activities, including AI-related training for vulnerable groups, with more information available in the project’s website here: Tour-X – The CoVE for hospitality that caters to your skills needs. In a similar spirit, AI4VET4AI places practical learning, inclusion, employability and regional relevance at the center of its approach, while focusing specifically on the integration of AI into vocational education and training systems.

The project also aims to raise awareness of AI potential among representatives of the public and private sectors, academia, civil society, VET providers, teachers, students, adult learners, companies and policy makers. As a long-term ambition the project and the consortium member’s seek to create a lasting community of institutions and VET teachers and learners who are informed, motivated and equipped to support a sustainable and inclusive AI-supported future.

The Erasmus+ AI4VET4AI project, “AI-powered Next Generation of VET”, which constitutes a CoVE – Centre of Vocational Excellence – brings together a broad European partnership with a total investment of €3,946,886 and 26 partner organisations from Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Austria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Türkiye and Ireland.
